The story was interesting and I did enjoy it, however both the characters and the story were told on a superficial level, never bringing the reader inside. Almost half the book was a ‘tell’, giving the reader the impression that the main character (MC) was just rattling off what was going on around him. Near the end we were brought a little more inside and the flow of the story improved.
A more careful editing of the book is encouraged, to correct spelling and syntax and punctuation errors.
In reading up on the publisher, Saddleback Publishing, I learned that it has a division for struggling readers. Taking this into consideration can explains why the text does not go into details about what’s going on.
