From Goodreads:
The only thing more shocking than discovering that dragons really exist is finding out that you are one.
My Thoughts:
Dragon Night by Stephanie Campbell is a fast paced entertaining story that is well written. The main character Ford was someone you could relate to and written in a way that you could really understand him. The struggle that Ford faces is very real, very believable and so tragic that you can't help but hurt for him. There wasn't a lot of cosmetic detail to the book but that was ok because of the nature of the story. Stephanie Campbell added a whole new unique take on Dragons that you just don't see very often. It was nice to read them the way that I always thought most of them would be. Fierce and scary. I mean they are a giant element breathing lizards after all right? The author pulls no punches and doesn't sugar coat anything which was refreshing. The ending was final and satisfying however should she choose to continue the story it could easily be done and honestly I kind of hope she does.
My only complaint is that after the beginning of the book you never hear from his "only friend" again and it seemed to me that there should have been more about her.
I would recommend this book for ages 14+. Although it is not graphic there is rape at the beginning of the book that fuels the whole story and constant mention of it. Otherwise it was great. The language was clean and the battles and descriptions of the battles weren't overly graphic.
