Where The Rain Is Made
By Keta Diablo
(Review by Saewod Tice)
Where The Rain Is Made takes you from the present time into a mining town during the summer of 1864. It’s here the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers come to revenge the ravaging of their lands and their People. Led by Meko- time wanderer Ethan Gray- he vows to uphold his sworn promise to protect the Cheyenne people. It’s also here Meko catches a skinny white boy fleeing the town. Upon the boy’s capture, the reaction Meko’s body has to touching the white boy confuses him, until he realizes his captive is not a boy, but a dark haired beauty.
Francesca has hidden her sex to protect herself from a town of mining men. But there is no hiding from the Cheyenne Dog Soldier who now owns her. She doesn’t want to belong to the savage- only seeking to flee the savage’s village with her brother, Marsh. But Francesca’s body can’t deny what it feels at the slightest touch from the dark warrior.
Keta Diablo has taken the history of the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers and intertwined a time wandering love story. The historical facts about the Cheyenne, the Dog Soldiers, and a time of Soldier versus Indians made this story truly come to life. From rituals to spiritual beliefs to the symbolism of the beading adorning the Cheyenne clothing, you were captivated. I only wish my history books had been this interesting.
But don’t be daunted by the historical aspect, because it is only one facet of this book. The past is wrapped by time wandering, glimmer of paranormal and a steaming romance that can’t be contained by time, or eras.
It’s like the warm fur of a buffalo keeping you cozy while you live through the past, present, and future. By the time you finish Where The Rain Is Made you will be dreaming of a Dog Soldier of your own.
(Can I get a sequel?!)
Blurb:
Ethan Gray is a curator at a national museum in Washington, D.C. . . most of the time. But when he travels through time to help his beloved People, he becomes Meko, leader of the most revered and feared tribe of the plains, the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers.
A decadent-looking savage has captured Francesca DuVall and her brother, Marsh. Now she must spend every waking moment planning an escape from the camp of the brutal savages. What she doesn't count on is the powerful draw of desire interfering with her scheme.
Their worlds are decades apart, yet Meko can’t resist the dark beauty he kidnapped during a raid. He has many battles to fight, but none more crucial than capturing Cesca’s heart forever.
Great Minds Thinking Aloud Rating: 4.5/5 Ravens
Age Recommendation: 18+
