Red by Kait Nolan Is an addicting supernatural story about teenagers and their relationship as they discover they have something very much in common and are hurled onto a strange and adventurous mystery discovering secrets and themselves on their journey. They are afraid to reveal the truth about each other secret until destiny tempts them to come together to solve a kidnapping and to survive a mad man’s obsession.
The dark mysterious character Sawyer is a protector and a fighter who comes to the rescue at the last moment keeping the reader attention and alert to see what his next action will be, romantic and suave and a powerful warrior he makes one’s heart race. . .The female character Elodie is a feisty independent thinker and she is the catalyst of keeping the story exciting; as she is confronted with finding herself, her purpose, solving the mysteries and accepting her destiny, all to prove that life’s trials make one stronger. The secrets which are revealed challenges them to come to terms with making choices that are of life and death decisions and to come to terms with their paths in life.
In author’s words; “Because of my condition—I really couldn’t bring myself to think of it as a curse—a fantasy was the only kind of relationship I was ever going to have. According to the book, the final catalyst for the change was sex. So in real life, I had to stay as far away from guys and as below their radar as possible. Not as though that had ever been much of a chore. Like I was gonna give it up to somebody who required hand holding encouragement and a billboard stating interest? Please. High school boys were morons. “
The two teenagers are both courageous and face daunting obstacles and come out as winners. It was a short and an entertaining tale with supernatural elements which make it a thriller tale, one will definitely enjoy. 4 ravens 11/12/11
