*Warning Novel and Television Images are Graphic with Gore due to the Zombies so if it makes you uncomfortable I am sorry.*
I first stumbled upon this graphic novel when I was forcing myself to get over my childhood fears of zombies and things that go bump in the night and smell of death. I don't know why I have had this fear but it has always been something that has stood out in mind and woke me in the night with dreams of never ending terror. I didn't even know the fear was that bad till the year that the remake of dawn of the dead previewed. I was pregnant with my daughter and thought Oh this will be funny lets watch it. Boy was I wrong. In the movie I seemed fine but later I found that I couldn't bring myself barely to go out to take the trash to the can just beside the door when I lived on a safe military post. It bothered me. After extensive talks with my doctors it was confront my issues or keep being slightly scared of what every human has a tiny fear of ...death. So I grabbed myself a drink. Ok it wasn't that much of a drink but it worked for the time. Stilled my nerves and picked up movies, books and graphic novels.
The walking dead was the last in the list of things to read as I became more secure with myself and the horrors that once fitted my mind I started to see the humanity in the struggles of the last survivors and the more scarey part is not the zombies that are chasing you but the humans that loose their compassion over time. This series is still going and as I have started to love it just as I do any of my other books it's become an addiction. Through out the series you find the struggles of man and woman endearing , frightful and down right primal as they strive to keep the ones they love alive and themselves.
Imagine my further delight when I found out that the series was picked up by AMC one of Televisions better series creators and after surviving it's first trial season of only six to short episodes in my opinion. It has been signed for a second Season. One i hope that after you have checked out the books will love and watch and keep going . It's a joy to share this and a little bit of personal details in order to give this review of the series my touch.
Enjoy
