Title: Fire Baptized Author: Kenya Wright Publisher: Dragonfairy Press Recommended Age: 18+ Reviewed By: Maegan Morin Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Rating: 4 Ravens
I really wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this book. I was kind of thinking it was going to be just another YA paranormal novel. Boy was I wrong! This book was excellent and in my opinion definitely not for teens. Fire Baptized by Kenya Wright is the story of Sentaria a habitat on the out skirts of Miami made exclusively for Supernaturals to live. Lorana has lived in Sentaria her whole life, a kleptomaniac pyromancer she has known nothing but struggle and is far from perfect. One night she comes across the scene of a brutal murder in progress and it throws her life into chaos.
There were a lot of things that I enjoyed about this book. Like I said before it's definitely an adult book. Sex, drugs, murder this book kept me on my toes. I was hooked from the beginning. The sex scenes were hot but they weren't the main focus of the book, which was nice. As far as the murder aspect, the author got a little gruesome with a lot of gory detail. I don't normally read murder mysteries but this one was something different. The author had a great writing style. I liked her imaginative world and I particularly liked the Rebel language she created. it was a little hard to read but it was good.
4 Ravens. I really look forward to reading Kenya Wright's next book.
