Survival A Memoir with dealing with Rape and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder by Elizabeth Mattke
Is a sensitive personal Christian biography of a young woman's struggles through darkness in her life. She was raised with conflicting perspectives about life. One side was about unconditional love from an Almighty and another through abuse from her loved ones and strangers, rape, and the after effects of post traumatic syndrome. The topic of rape comes up and she speaks of the emotional upheaval it causes in her daily life, her education and her future with her fiancée and the people she thought she could depend upon betrayed her and other were like angels protecting her and aiding her through healing.
This story is short and published by a publishing house and is still a work in progress for it is a vital message and a psychology aid to help someone through difficult personal storm in their lives and hold on to the belief that no matter what anyone says or does, the hurt individual is the only one who hold the power to make it through. The author has the educational degrees to give advice but to some readers this novella it may be taken as a pamphlet of how to seek for assistance, how to believe in a supreme being for divine guidance. And with the right professional help, support network and guidance, negative actions could be healed, for some it will take a long time and for others shorter, it depends upon their trust factor being repaired again.
This reader choose to read this story because as a reviewer I could not find any reviews on it and the author is from the United Kingdom and wants to help others to seek truth through counseling and finding the Almighty. I goggle other links and she was interviewed on a radio show. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuIHppIvWqU
It is a mixture of personal triumph, advice and has a message; if lost follow your heart and seek the healing comfort of people who could assist a broken vessel, an individual who was betrayed and be there to help, listen do not judge the hurting and teach them to find the strength again to be able to function as society deems as a productive citizen again. Strengthen them to be able to chase away the demons of mental illness and depression and come to terms with the pain and move forward. Believe in the impossible to be the possible. The two songs that could be dedicated to this story is I am a Survivor and Climb every Mountain to reach the top of self-realization and find freedom away from emotional past scars.
Some readers would declare this is a work in progress and needs more substance and more techniques and skills building advice to be more assertive in helping a hurting individual find peace in the midst of betrayal. It is a beginning and the author hints another book is coming out in the Spring of 2012.
