The Last Incarnation is a high fantasy novel written by J.A. Giunta and tells the story of Barr, the son of a trapper who loses his father on a fateful hunting trip. Then found by and Elven hunting party and raised as one of their own to become Sage. Until he is exiled and then heads off to find the beast that killed his father.
WOW! I loved this book! I will first admit that high fantasy is my favorite genre but having said that I have read so many that its hard to impress me. J.A. Giunta did just that. Very well written and engaging I didn't want to put this book down. For me it was one of those books that you haul with you everywhere you go in hopes of getting a few minutes to read it. The story was original and I liked the fact that not everything was perfect in the hero's life. Also even though the author tells you who the traitor is I was still furiously reading to find out how it would all go down. One aspect that I particularly enjoyed was the pictures (yes the pictures). One at the beginning of every chapter in lieu of a title. I loved trying to guess what the chapter was going to be about.
I give this book 5 ravens and I cant wait to read the rest of the Ascension series. In fact I'm a little desperate to own a hard copy of all of them!!
