Book: Gone Author: Julie Elizabeth Powell Printed by: lulu.com Ages: 10 and up Ravens: 5
Truth be told I wasn't sure what to expect of this book with such a simple title. But this one was more than ample to describe the voyage this story takes you on... Gone is based on the author's life experience of "losing" her daughter at 2.5 when her heart stopped. The doctors resuscitated too long and left her brain dead. For 17 years she lived that way and her mother often wondered where she had gone before finally passing after 17 years. It takes you on a "voyage" to that "other place" that people go when they die and leave the body and then return to life. It's not what you'd expect, but the experience through the writer's words is quite extraordinary. Fantasy? Yes. But rooted in a very real curiosity about what or where a person goes when they pass. I love this story, so much so that I would give it a much higher rating if I could. A must read for anyone!
