Liz and Kim are best friends and talented in the field of paranormal ability. As gifted parapsychologists, they are sometimes called upon by the police department to help in unsolved cases. When an invite to an old friend’s birthday party has them performing psychic readings for well known guests, the woman are pleasantly surprised to find a man truly in need of their help.
Screen legend, John Carter, still looks ravishing in his now early fifties, and is even more dashing in person, as Liz pleasantly ascertains. Kim and Liz agree to look at a home owned by a dear friend of his, which has been haunted since the death of its original owner, Ben McCann, in the late 1700’s. The house is unliveable, and the two women agree to move into McCann Manor in an attempt to release any spirits still harboured inside.
Paranormal phenomenon is not always as it seems, and Liz finds herself becoming swept up in emotions for John she feels are not her own. Death and heartache filter through the dwelling, spurred on by one dark being. A portal to another time is discovered giving answers to some of the questions the woman have about why McCann Manor is stuck in a time of grief and suffering.
Liz and John are thrown together at the mercy of the supernatural beings surrounding the home, and find they are truly kindred souls from another life. It is a large cast of characters that come together to help Liz and Kim heal the spirits of the residence, present and past. Will they be able to find out the true reason behind the torment before another soul is taken by the Manor?
Author, Charlotte Holley weaves a tangled web of deceit and heartache. McCann’s Manor is intricately written and will have you on the edge of your seat. She has done an amazing job at combining both the real and paranormal world. It is a definite page turner as you are drawn deeper into the world of the unknown. My only suggestion is – don’t read it at night!
