Book Title: Z Strain Author: Rutger Klamor Published By: Rutger Klamor Genre: Horror Recommended Age: 18+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 5 Ravens This book was honestly a different ride than some of the Zombie books. I have to say I was definitely a little turned around actually knowing how a lot of the things in the book began. For once you knew where it was coming from and why and it was done in such detail that you were not turned off from reading the story you actually wanted to go forward read know more and see just how it was going to end. Most Zombie stories throw you into the mix you wonder how it happened, what caused it? And When or where it was going to end. Was it just that one town or was it all over the world? You have a clear picture of who your heroine is or who your Hero for that matter but, with this one things kept turning one minute you might be cheering for the underdog the next you might actually hate his guts. Or the bad guy could have you hating his guts and then you find yourself cheering him on hoping that he will overcome his hatred and make that savior move. The book is about of course the obvious zombies but, it comes with the start of the world normal as we know it like most. However, the twisted tale being portrayed by or from a monsters part of view. There is the back story the first version of why this happened and long ago how but, then there is the shift to the there and now as you start to witness every ones life before it is turned upside down. Dee, Steph, Lilith, Rocky all of the characters slowly come to life even the bad guys like Chains. Lilith of course is our instigator in this world the little succubus demon that she is you actually understand slowly why she wants out but you also don’t want her out of her prison so to speak cause once she is well… you want to know the full blow of things you pick up this book and read it. Definitely for the zombie lovers out there something new with a little bit of the old. For those of the faint of heart though and not that into a lot of detail just want the zombie gore you may not be into it. This is a story worth reading I can’t stress it enough pick it up read it. I can’t help but love it and look forward to more.

When I could not get a copy that way I was about ready to buy the book when finally I won a copy. So thanks first to library thing and the author for picking me and giving me a chance to review this book. It has in no way made my opinion about this book bias as the whole reason I was trying to get a copy was I had kept hearing nothing but good things about this book. I was surprised more and pleased that for once the truth was in the readers that have gotten the chance before me to read this book. The story was very well thought out and planned I enjoyed the diversity in the characters and the way that the character Christine was portrayed with her depression and anger issues clear signs of a PTSD for someone that had been through a very traumatic experience in her life. Christine is a young girl trying to cope in her life after a traumatic and very violent experience in her life. Not only does she lash out at friends and family but she lashes out at herself as well refusing to let herself move on past the almost rape and the forced killing she had to do in order to protect herself during said event. Outcast by the town and picked on she is all but ready to run away and start over when she finds herself relaxing enjoying a moment upon the water in the lake of her back yard when she is transported to another time another world and another life. Forced to endure the harsh realities of life there suffering a disfiguring burn and finding love she never expected from someone as ostracized from that society as she was her own she finds further confusion when who she finds out is her love and savior is someone she already knew in her life back home. The tale is twisted and dark even a little horrific in times bringing together a perfect mesh of story telling that is just down right magical I applaud the authors work and actually look forward to reading more and what may come from Fawn. There are some concepts and twisted moments in the story that may not be for the fain of heart but I’m pretty sure for those that read it they will love it just as I do.

Book Title: Match Made In High School Author: Kristin Walker Published By: Razorbill Genre: Young Adult Recommended Age: 13+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 5 Ravens At times I venture outside of our numerous publishing companies and find myself seeking to read something that I have yet to see float past my eyes. Upon my searching for something a little different of my norm which is a lot of paranormal, Paranormal romance and various other genres I stumbled upon this book and was pleased to see it was perhaps just what I was looking for. Being this book I knew from the start I was in for something that was going to be hilarious but a little frustrating as well. The story is of Fiona Sheenan a senior in her high school. Upon their first day back she and her best friend Marcie join the rest of the seniors and students in the auditorium of their school for the surprise of their lives. They are told that the seniors will participate in a Marital Course that will pair them up with students of the senior class and they must complete this course in order to graduate from high school . Not only will the course teach them about marriage but they learn about budgets , jobs, homes and bills at the end of the year the school those that complete the course by doing everything they are told to do will graduate those that don’t will not. Not only does this outrage the students but Fiona especially teamed up with the Jock she has stereotyped and loathes as well as watching her crush teamed up with the Jocks girlfriend she and her classmates ensue on a crazy and comical few months of school and this course. While their parents are outraged and picketing the school Fiona learns that she’s not the best friend, person, or peer she thinks she might be that she’s actually very judging and close minded as well. With all the up crazy moments and fun story that unfolds I was pleased with this story however I also found that at times I got a little frustrated with Fiona too. There are moments even you want to strangle her for her selfish moments in the end it’s what I consider a great book for the young adult readers to know how to treat others as well as themselves in life and try to take that moment to realize that you can not always judge a book by it’s cover and that true friends and friendship mean more in the world than just what is in it for you.

Book Title: Forget Me Not Author: Terri Molina Published By: Decadent Publishing Company Genre: Paranormal Romance Recommended Age: 18+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 5 Ravens Romance novels, Unless they are Paranormal (yes, I know typical for most) I have not had a knack for them. Suspense, Thriller it didn’t matter no matter what I did I had a hard time getting into them and then. I was given this book as a Review assignment from my director Kitty Bullard, She told me I just had to read it that I would enjoy it and that it would change my mind. I’m always open to try new things. Give them that good old fashioned try and so I did. Never will I admit this often but she was right. I didn’t just enjoy it. I loved it. I loved it. It was fast paced and suspenseful but left me guessing at each possible angle and scenerio that could come of the multiple stalker situation. It had me grow that affinity for Casey where one minute I wanted to hug her and try to help comfort her from her horrible past to where the next I wanted to shake some sense into her out of frustration and the situations she allowed herself to get into. Casey is clearly suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) where it affects some and they shut down or close themselves off , This is what I’ve heard call the Fight or Flight response. she has chosen to take what I call the Fight approach in stead of flight making her strong willed and defiant to the end. Refusing to admit that she can’t handle anything on her own. She struggles like some of the men that have this disorder to relinquish control and to admit that this is a moment they need help. It shows just how much of that can be destructive to herself and others. Maybe I read a little more into the character than I should have but I found her well developed and proof of ones life , trials and tribulations things that happen some of them more shocking than one might admit or know can alter a person and their personality greatly. It’s this and coming home that is allowing Casey to do the one thing she never really thought she would be able to do and that is face her past and possibly heal herself to save her future. Scott is the good cop with a family background but he himself has issues refusing to settle down or make anyone deal with what his mother had to go through as being a cop ran in the family. He’s just a good ol’ boy that never expects to find a woman completely off what he figures to be his “type” in Casey not only is she his best friends sister but she’s everything that infuriates and frustrates him but all in a completely good way. Making his job as bodyguard only that much harder while she’s back home in her home town. The two having to deal with her family hiding the fact she’s been stalked by a crazy serial killer and the rest of the stalkers who have a claim to her one odd way or another. Thinking everything she says or does is about them. Once again I thoroughly enjoyed this book and perhaps , perhaps I’m definitely looking for more from this Author

Book Title: The New Kid Author: Temple Mathews Published By: First BenBella Books Genre: Horror/ Paranormal Recommended Age: 15+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 4 Ravens This book was started a lot differently than I expected a definite surprise to what the usual normal. From the beginning it was action packed and very page turning. The author seemed to take the time as well to go more in depth about the character they were creating and the world in which they were choosing to unfold before me. I found myself hungry to know what was going on and when the next incident would put things forward I also never saw some of the twists coming that I expected but then there was also that one thing I never thought would happen when he actually lost his best friend Rudy to the demons and not the girl. I was surprised to see that for once the female character in this book was not the usual helpless damsel in distress and helped in every way possible. The hero as well was not without his own flaws and small downfalls keeping it very realistic especially seeing as his mixed background . In the choice to keep some fun of the story to myself what I mean by this means you need to read the book to find out. The new kid is about a young man named Will Hunter. He has grown up his whole life looking for his father and trying to figure out what all it meant the night his father was taken from their home and he was left with nothing more than a book and a promise to his dad that he would not open it till his 13th birthday only one minute after midnight. It was after this Will learned his true identity or so he thought and the purpose he had in this world. Using his very high intelligence to supplement his mothers income without her knowing and keeping them moving about the united states he is picking up where his father had left off and trying as well in hopes to find who and where his father has been kidnapped too. The author has definitely created a very nice series and I can’t wait to read more. Looking forward to picking up more books within this series and I hope that you will enjoy the read as well as I have too.

Book Title: Xenofreak Nation Author: Melissa Conway Published By: Self Published Genre: Scifi Recommended Age: 13+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 5 Ravens As always I got the joy by receiving this book from Melissa Conway, already she had snagged me with her series of The Gossamer Sphere and with several other additions of her work. This may sound like it has made me a little bias to her but, I refuse to not give credit where it is due. Melissa Conway’s writing has a way of capturing you pulling you in and keeping you turning the pages as you find yourself lost in your imagination only fed by the creative imagination behind the works and her worlds. Each one is different and that is something I’ve come to really love about this author and her works. Xenofreak nation is without a doubt one of her best to date in my opinion. The characters are colorful , well thought out and a beautiful mix of the norm but still with their own character quirks of flaws making them each individuals. With that being said I continue. Xenofreak nation is a book that has started a wonderful new world. Stepping off it’s pages and coming to life as I turned the pages. Bryn you grow to love as she is the victim but she takes her victimization and grows from it becomes stronger and discovers that you truly can not judge every book by it’s cover. Her father a twisted sociopath bent on using her mothers death and the hatred he has for Xenos to get the funding he needs for his own twisted goals and morals. Puts his daughter and others around him through hell only to never get what he wants. Further more the twisted doctor that aids in his attempts and helps sacrifice Bryn for the good of their beliefs is no better and probably more twisted than he is. Together with Cougar a Xeno she meets she experiences the loss of her identity and the finding of her new one. Connecting back with family from her past Carla and moving through to unearth the truth behind the Xbeastias A gang and criminal group helping the doctor. The end of the book is left open with what I can only hope to be or mean that there is more to come to tell us of Bryn and her life after she’s been changed. As always I can’t get enough of this Author and can only hope and eagerly away for more from her. Even if Scifi is not your thing like it is often for me I tell you Melissa will and may very well change your mind give it a try I am sure you will never be disappointed.

Book Title: Art Geeks and Prom Queens Author: Alyson Noel Published By: St. Martin's Griffin; First Edition edition (April 1, 2010) Genre: Young Adult Recommended Age: +13 Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 5 Ravens I’m a sucker for Young Adult books especially some of the ones that have that good moral behind the story. With todays Youth seeming to loose their innocence younger and younger each year or having to deal with the brutality of bullying that only seems to have gotten worse than when I was a kid it was some books like these that helped me cope with things and deal especially when it felt like I had no one to talk to or a parent I was delusional enough to think wouldn’t listen. I knew better once I had gotten older and there isn’t a moment or day that passes by that I don’t feel thankful for the dad I had god knows I probably put him through a few rounds of hell at my rebellious age. This book is about a young girl of seventeen , Her name is Rio. Yes her mother named her after one of even my favorite Duran Duran songs from the eighties. Use to being the gangly awkward geek back in her home city of New York Rio is swept away to Orange County living in California and soon learns that over the time she thought she was awkward she had grown into her body and looked more like her retired “almost” Super model mother Jahne Jones. Starting out at the new school she meets with Mason a very trendy artsy girl and what others call a geek and Jas the extremely handsome laid back dreamer/Surfer that everyone calls a pot head or loser. To begin things seem simple and her crush for Jas makes things awkward but fun for Rio till she finds out he has a girl friend. Seeing the type of girl he dates Rio assumes of what the girl is like and tries to transform herself into that girl by joining in with the popular girls. Kristi and her two lackeys as they are first known to Rio. Soon enough with all the debauchery and scandals that travel through the girls group Rio finds herself on top only to be quickly ripped down by Kristi and sunk into a brutal bullying and scandalous harassment of Rio. After breaking down talking to her mother and her father about the situation. Rio shows just how to properly handle a girl like Kristi and how to know that she’s nothing like what the others think she is. Reforming her bonds with Jas and Mason and finding out who she is not who everyone wants her to be Rio is a very smart, strong and lively girl that shows you no matter what wrongs you make you can always fix them with the rights and staying true to yourself. This is definitely a book I will give to my daughter when she gets old in hopes that she will feel the inspiration I think it gives to all girls that read it and learns from it as well that it’s always good to be you. Not what the others think are you.

Book Title: The Demon of Renaissance Drive Author: Elizabeth Reuter Published By: JournalStone Genre: Paranormal Recommended Age: 18+ Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 3 Ravens It’s been a few days since I finished this book but it left me with a few feelings I was and I’m still questioning along the way. Part of me wanted to love this book, and the other part of me wanted to hate it. It started out pretty strong flow with some of the usual paranormal elements along the way but , began to turn into something of a religious/philosophical questioning leaving me wondering if the book was meant to be that questioning of religions or if somewhere along the lines of the story the story it’s self got lost. Though it was a pretty decent book not of the norm for it’s usual genre. It was definitely a book that has left me with a few questions and some answers I’m not so sure I want. The story of Annabelle a succubus bored with her life and existence in hell, considered one of Hells’ Noble women and the last few of still procreating demonic mothers practically tearing her hair out to change her life and get out of her norm of day to day political banter with the demon kings of hell and their offers to make her a kept woman if she just spawns them an heir. It further goes to change slowly as she finds and steals this soul sent there for torture and damnation from one of the torture areas. She tries to rehabilitate him from his tortured and now broken mind. A guy that is pretty horrible you later on find and this leaves me with the questions of how am I suppose to feel about this Murder/rapist/racist….On top of which already having the later religious conflicting issues. They go on to meet this good doing/clean soul Jimmy Hamid a psychologist that is to help restore Harry/Steve to a better mind than the tortured bruised soul that he is. All the while watching as this previously stated soul slowly starts to become a Poltergeist which is stated several times each time something unordinary happens with Harry/Steve . The ending is pretty fastly wrapped up and seems to be purposely left for a sequel to the book but I have to say I’m a little iffy on the choice on whether or night I would like to pick up the book as it’s just a little empty feeling to me. However, Like I always say what isn’t my cup of tea very well may be yours so with that 3 ravens is as good of a review as I can go with this as I’m still torn with my choice but give it a go you may like it and enjoy the aspects of the book that I myself did and did not!

Sproatt Published By: Indie Author Self Published Genre: Paranormal Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavoc Blog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community Rating: 4 Ravens This was a very fast read one leaving me wanting more which I have to say is the perfect way to run a series like this. Shawn C. Sproatt has captivated me and definitely gotten me intrigued into where and how this story will progress. The title actually had me thrown off when I first saw and picked to read this. I was expecting a little something different and a little held at bay it’s taken me a while to work up the nerve to read this thinking that it was going to be what I thought it was and then wham she definitely made sure to surprise me. The 18 year old Lorelei Moskowitz doesn’t ask for much just a normal college experience. However even that seems to be the one thing she knows isn’t going to happen. Just a few problems seem to arise to help keep this from being the one and only thing that happens while she’s at college after all it seems her cousin has seen to it to already start the year off on a crazy note. Julie is Lorelei’s cousin and dating a warlock that is pretty much on a hidden agenda maybe? Probably? The only chance she has of finding out is asking the help of Ethan another warlock that is over 150 years old and stuck in a 25 year olds body. The concept of the characters was very interesting. I loved how there were non-magical and magical beings interspersed throughout the story with the seeming throw of normalcy it helped add to some of the parts in the story that held the magical content. I believe this to be a very good series to pick up and being while it’s on it’s starting climb and look forward to more work from this author .

A little leery and on my way to wanting something more new and fresh to read than the usual of my genre pool as of late I decided that a break from Zombies or some Paranormal Romance this would be just my cup of tea and picked it for my read this week. I was gladly not disappointed. Upon reading the book I was pulled in and could not stop turning the pages. The concept was nice and fresh with a little bit of the old classical horror feel from most angles. It’s about Lysander a young man new to the area alienated not only by peers and classmates for how he dresses and how he acts sometimes but as well by his own father who seems to hold a grudge against him for the past loss of his little brother that never came to full term and the injury to his mother. Now with their home having been burned down they have moved to the town of Millingham and little did they know that the darkness there was ready to consume them all or at least Lysander. Samantha Crow daughter to the town Sheriff and all around dark girl or Wiccan as most do not know or understand has been having nightmares herself of her mother and her mothers death. She doesn’t believe that her mother committed suicide like her father and others of the town are trying to make her believe and she’s not only right the murderer is out there still and looking for her and Lysander. Together these two face hell only to find out the dark past of themselves their souls and the town. Together they will have to correct the mistakes of their past and past lives and try to out live the killer that is hunting them and some of their friends and family down. I have enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from Griffin Hayes. A wonderful action filled story and one I highly recommend.

In the beginning the book was a little slow to start with to many quick jumps changing the scene that it got me a little bit turned around and I had to back read a few times to make sure I was following along at the pace that I felt I should be. I began to realize that it was reading in a rather disjointed way. Which I believe is how it is meant to be read. However it became increasingly harder to read with what I felt in some areas was complete skips of detail. Rushed is the feeling I was getting as if the author felt like the need to get to the core of the story was all that mattered. There in making some of the first posts and pages to me seem as if they were not as important as they should have been.
I got past all that and began to read the story finally falling into the world that was compelling. The idea was rich and colorful and belonged within the flow of the story. As if the Author found themselves finally and fell into that creative flow the world began to come alive and there in was what really mattered. The relationships were very descriptive and fit good with each other. I enjoyed how things seemed selfless and feel that the book is good for the younger adult scene.
Through all it's bumpy ride and beginning I believe that the book deserves at least a chance and say that to read it you may or may not like it but I believe giving it that chance is exactly what it needs.

Oh my god where to begin? Kait Nolan has entered with a bang and blown me away. To long have the stories of Vampires taken a romanticized priority to the Supernatural/Paranormal written world. Werewolves and some of the fairy tales of old taken a back seat or been very loosely translated to fit into the place where they covered just enough but left to many questions. RED by Kait Nolan gives me a breath of fresh and vibrant air. I know I’m starting out now by singing it’s praises , but I can not help but say that it’s a wonderfully written and captivating tale taking the story of Red Riding Hood and her whole past to a whole new level and steps. I love this book. A classic with a twist and a Young Adult romance that keeps you turning the pages. The story is of Elodie a young girl of 17 going through her life wondering why and what happened really with her mother and her supposed suicide. Not only had she left a letter for Elodie and her Father but she had made sure to inform them both of the changes that would be coming to Elodie after a certain age causing her life to be nothing short of cold and shut in. Elodie is soon to find out that everything of her Mothers bloodline and past are all faults, and lies that some beasts can be controlled and that she herself is in more control than she ever knew. Enter Sawyer a young man or better yet a young werewolf with his father suffering from the murder of his mother and filled with rage almost to the point that the beast wants to consume him. His only hope is to keep control of himself and this is hard. Getting harder everyday angry with life, His father and the fact that his mother is gone Sawyer is on a short temper and an even shorter life line. The two meet and when they find that one calms and helps the other more than thought they realize that neither are as alone as they feel and both could be more than just friends. With a hunter on their tales bad things constantly happening and a twist you never see coming Red will leave you breathless, and itching to turn the pages and get lost within this world that Kait has created. Wonderfully developed characters, back stories, and even details of the shift kept realistic and believable all I can say to Kait Nolan is your on a roll and we want and need MORE!

Romance, Historical… Really not my thing but this wasn’t so bad However, I believe I saw this in a lifetime family movie here back when I was like 18. A lot of the story was really déjà vu for me as it was something I felt and sensed I had read or knew before. I did not like how predictable it was or how the story veered from great GOOD flow to input and over abundance of sex scenes. I love historical stories as well as anything native american as I feel often times it’s a culture lost but , Towards the end I felt like I was reading more sex and missing more of what was going on and what was going to happen. Though the concept was really good and for others this is and probably will be a very GOOD book. I however just did not feel the pull and passion to read as I normally do taking me longer than usual to actually get through and finish the book. Please do not let my review deteer you however, others like things that I usually do not being an extremely picky reader I urge you all to pick up this book and give it a chance you may decide otherwise that you enjoy it much more than I could.

Most times I begin by saying whether or not the book reviewed is in the genre I normally do or do not read. As of late my Genres have been flipping and though I had a love of paranormal romance I had lost my interest when most of the books I had begun to read took on a life of nothing more than sexual conquest after sexual conquest no matter how weird some of them seem to be. Disheartened I had found myself floundering seeing something and unsure. That was until Moonlight Bleu fell across my path from the wonderful publishers at Crescent Moon Press. I was really not up for the task and even felt a little leery as I stared at my kindle and then. I took a leap of faith. Diving in with a ferocity and hunger to once again hopefully enjoy the genre that I loved so much. To say the least possible I was not disappointed.
The story was rich with detail and intrigue explaining future events and past with clarity that kept all real. There was the knowing a little of what would happen but then a twist when it never happened quite the way you thought it would. It was a page turner and with each one I found myself hating to think that I was growing that much closer to the books end. Saari was instantly a love of mine I liked how she wasn’t super human strong but she wasn’t a push over or scared. It was a beautiful mix of both as she struggled to deal with the effects of her past and the events of her soon to be future. There was no abundance of sexual exploitation and I felt like the author truly knew what was going to make her book more tasteful and down right intriguing. I’m compelled by the story and long for more. I want to know more about what will happen to Saari, Dhelis, Brogan and her best friend an Egyptian vampire named Mags.
Last but not least I have to thank the author and Crescent Moon Press for renewing my faith in this Genre once again.
