Genre: Modern/Paranormal Romance Usually I hate romance novels, the ones that seem to take a turn for the more scandalous and cliche connections. So when I picked up this book I was fully prepared to loathe every second of this book and either A.) Get bored and never finish it. Or B.) Over analyze everything about it and pick it apart till it was just a mesh of words that had been read and reread over and over again. However, I was hoodwinked by myself and felt like I made a little bit of an ass out of myself by making an assumption. The story was captivating. After the first few pages I had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep or else I would have been to tired in the morning to get up. Kaia is perfection and I love how the writer took her from that dropped her into a setting ripped everything away from her and turned her into someone that people could relate to. Yes , this may have read a little like a fairy Cinderella story but it was one that I instantly fell in love with. The struggles of the main characters were connected to real life situations and concepts that are not outlandish and over the top. Things were carefully planned and for all the secrecy and lies each were sharing in the end all the questions you build up and ask are answered. You love not only Kaia but her friends Jenny, Rachael , Ted... you see her develop from this cold calculating cruel creature into a true loving human. To understand both sides of her life and to embrace them with the same vivacious innocence. All in all this was a wonderful book and the story was very well done, I can not wait to read more from Inara Scott and already look forward to seeing what she has to offer. I would love stories of all the Fae and hope that perhaps she has something tucked up her sleeve for later.

Genre: Short story collection of Horror As always I love Aaron Polson's work. From the first set of short stories I had the privilege of reading to this collection as well. They are all well written and thought out even the poetry was good and gets your imagination going as you finish the stories within your mind. It's the time of year that we all look for a good scary story to share and to enjoy. This was by far no let down. From Cargo to the very last page of Down There. I kept turning the page and feeling those eerie creepy feelings when it's late at night and your the only one up in your house even the feeling that your not alone. It was wonderful fear tempting read and I think on a rainy night or a good campfire these tails would be some of the best to share with family and friends if you want a nice fright.

Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy/Romance It took longer than I wanted to get started on this book but, Once I got in the flow of things and was able to sit down I am pleased to say that the book did not disappoint me in the slightest. It was fast paced and kept the thrill in it. As well it kept you guessing and trying to figure things out the suspense was well worth it and just when things seemed to die down or have a moment of silence you were thrust back in full force with a turn of thrill in the story and an arch that took you on a magically wonderful ride. The romance was there but, there was the twist and turns in the story to keep it tied up between Ian and Joaquin it was hard to find who you wanted to root for more. Then you would find that you hated one just as much as you hated the other and could understand Leah's feelings on both of them. For once unlike some paranormal romance novels the sexual scenes are steamy but not overly done and they still leave somethings to the imagination fading out at just the right moments. Another thing that I am happy to say is that it wasn't a purely sex based book. To often than not that happens in stories or series and the concept of the book goes utterly lost. For it to be the first I have read in this series I am happy to say job well done to the author.

Exciting thrill ride. That's the first thought that comes to mind when I think of Touched and how compelling it was. The Author surprised me with the quick paced and action packed movement of this young adult novel I fel as if I was thrown into the adventure and journey with the main character Dez and kept on the whirlwind of chaos that rips through her life as she knows it and turns her world upside down. Kale the young man she meets keeps her on a rush that she is unsure of how she feels pulling her between family, friends, and past loves.
Kale brings news to Dez that she never would expect after he realizes that his special touch isn't enough to kill her not only is Deznee taken for the ride of her life but Kale gets the first glimpses of a life worth living outside of the tortured , captivity he has always known and that there may be a chance at living.
The writer truly knows how to captivate their audience be it from the ones of young to even old ones like me. I eagerly await the next work and hunger for more.

When it comes to some Fantasy genre I am very picky about what I read. So when I saw The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells I was a little worried. Here was this great book with amazing cover art and what looked like a wonderful story concept. I even got a little timid worried that I would read the story find it not appealing and put the book down. After staring at the book picking it up starting to open it then freaking out and putting it down again it took my Kindle breaking to actually get the kick in the rear I needed to stop being afraid that the book would disappoint me and to actually give it the shot that it so fairly needed. Picking it up and the first pages did NOT let me down. I fell in love. I fell in love with Moon, with stone and Jade and flower with all the characters and every single one of the children. I wanted to cuddle the little Speckle. Every turn of the page pulled me in to the world and made me want to know what was going to happen next. Each twist and turn taking you on a magical ride and a love of friends, family, and new beginnings. All in all I say to embrace this novel open it up and read it. Allow it to pull you in and let you fall in love with it as I have.

By Steve Perlow From the beginning this book was a pleasant surprise. So many vampire novels of late focus upon the sexual drive and sensual nature of the vampires that at times I feel I'm reading nothing but one long drawn out romance novella or story that could be wrapped up in a matter of minutes instead of hours. The predictability of the story disappoints me and I would put the book down and move on to find something else. HOWEVER! I was pleased and very happy with Alone: Vampires and the life of Erin Rose. So much so that from the moment I started reading last night I did not put the book down till I had finished today. Minus the few hours of sleep I actually got. Compelling and calling for one to keep turning the pages you get to see the life of Erin Rose or what she remembers what she goes through of love and loss as well as friends and her made up family before all of this. She is a marvelous young woman that you root for every time to over come what her life has put before her. All her struggles that culminate in the ultimate decision you would have never seen of her but find yourself shouting out HELL YA! and throwing your arm up in victory for her. I am so eager for the next installation of this series of books that I want to beg the author to allow me to read over his shoulder as he types just so I know what happens next. I am usually very patient but this one.. thank you is all I can say thank you for renewing my faith in a good vampire story.

From the beginning this young adult novel did not disappoint. The scenes immediately pull you in and keep the interest of the one reading with constantly something happening you feel as if it never slows down and that is a good thing. There were tasteful romance scenes and nothing to over the top for a young adult novel. I eagerly flipped the pages wishing time and again my daughter was old enough to start in on a series of books from this writer. I know in the future it will be one I suggest to her if she hopefully keeps up with her creative imagination as well. The story took many twist and turns allowing you to never guess or know the ending unless you had read the book. I keep going back and reading segments even as I type and finding something new within. The author took the time to develop each character giving them their own personalities there were no two the same and the best part is there is more which I can not wait to read. I look forward to more in the next book and segment of this series. Thanking the author with all my heart for the wonderful read.

I have often reviewed several books like this and though most take the turn for the overly sexual sometimes loss of the sight of the books true purpose I have to give it to Deanna Chase for keeping the scenes steamy but not piled on alot and not making Jade out to be a perfect woman, or a woman that would take any man. The links and ties created to characters were genuine and well thought out. Even the sexual tension built up was well explained and even kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for the moments they would fully explode. I enjoyed that she kept that concept and the thrill there not making this a sleazy fast book. I turned the pages cause I was eager to and find out how it all ended and where things went I even liked the twist in the end that took me by surprised. All in all this was a wonderful story and book and I look forward like always to more from this Author. I won it in a library Thing give away and it has not been a let down from the description, the first page and to the last it was a wonderful imaginative ride.

Torn is a wonderful young adult read from Kensington Teen Books. The story is very heartfelt and entwining it shows the bond between a girl and her best friend, Mo and Verity. They had grown up together all their lives without fully knowing each other. Mo AKA Mouse is Maura Fitzgerald, her family is suspected of being mobsters her dads locked up in the pen and her Uncle controls everything about her mother and her life. Verity the very air that breathes around Mo is all that kept her on a path of sanity till the night Mo looses Verity. I feel horrible for the two girls as you see the bond they share shattered and the care that Mo still has for her friend. Vowing vengence Mo struggles through her life after Verity's death and trying to understand and help the people that took it from her. Finding out that everyone around her is not what they all seem. As she falls into a Magical and fantasy world she discovers that Verity was a deeper girl than just the vibriant out going socialite and that she herself has inherited Verity's destiny along with her own. The decisions she has to make are more than which guy to date. She has to choose the fate of the world. This story was strong to the points and morals it was just a wonderful read that I am finding so hard to put into words other than to GO read this yourself and maybe you will feel as I do I want to know more I want to ask is there going to be a second story with Mo and the outcome of things to come after alliances fail, choices are made, people are lost and the world changes. Changing a girl into a young woman with the control finally in her hands.

Let me first start by saying this is not the usual type of book I review. As I'm sure most of you know. I was a little sceptical and nervous as my sister previously stated we grew up in the south and seeing these Spiritual healers, Evangelist (Grandfather and no not all of my family supported this.), as well as the baptists that I have known too. I tend to veer from this sort of thing as they are not always portrayed in a very kind light. I in no way defend them I was just raised by my family to believe we all have the right to believe and praise the way we all want to. No one religion is right and no one is perfect. With that little spill out of the way I continue.
This story was wonderful, It did not lead me into the bashing of ones beliefs but instead showed how one could take things from their past. Beliefs and hopes even faith they had lost and turn it around and find the good in all of it. Annie There is so many times I want to hug her, and cheer her on as she learns these valuable lessons in life. I love how those that doubt and seek to destroy her learn that there is humility in everything we do. That like the old saying goes people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Judge noone and you will not be judged.
To go from being used as nothing more than an act to actually learn that you have been given a gift that can heal and help others is only something short of amazing. Annie realizes that she infact has the renewed faith in herself.
Fastastic book Alex Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this. It was nice to not be let down or disappointed.

Ava, what can I not say about her that isn't a little undertoned. She is a wonderful concept character one that constantly struggles with who and what she is. The way she does not belong to either side but, to herself is even more. The ups and downs she went through as a child only to further be forced to struggle against the two races that created her. I was pleased with this book at first I was worried that it would be another of the usual overly hyped and even catering to the masses with the bought of romances. Believe me when I say that it was not one long romance novel waiting for the next tryst to come in an alley but the nice formation and beginning of a universe where one might become submerged and slowly love each character. The last pages are an excerpt of the second book and I can already say that my appetite is wet and ready to read. I can only hope I can get my hands on the book fast enough and soon.

A thick volume that pulled me in from page one and had me filled with suspense. There was just the right elements of romance, danger, suspense, thrill, misdirection and even comedy at times. Hunger is the first two of the Vampire Legacy series books written by Karen E. Taylor and I can already say that she has gotten me hooked and wanting more. Already I am driving my family insane as I look for the second novel and talk about how pleased I was with the reading. I even found myself pulled in during dinner and must apologize to my family for burning their croissants something that I try not to do . The characters were individuals and thankfully no two were just alike. Though some had similarities it was pleasant to see that the writer took the time to develop each one and not let them fall through the cracks. I want to know more about Dorothy/Dierdra and Mitch. I want to know more of how Chris comes to terms with his fathers choices. We all hate Larry and want him to die and even want to see what happens with the other numerous characters that make you fall in love when you start to read this wonderful adaption. Further, more I can't express enough how please I am with Karen for taking the steps to make sure that this novel was not just another over sex filled supernatural romance but an actual universe that I can't wait to see further developed.

Finding a Horror book with it's own twists turns, and Delightful ending is very hard. I have been a fan of writers such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz etc etc. So believe when I say that starting out with a new horror I am always doubtful and leery, However This book was a pleasure it started out like most horrors with the loss of people and the surprise as to what was going on. Giving that rush of yelling at the book to RUN! or feeling yourself lost in a moment of hopelessness. You hold on to the hope that the first character to die might actually live only to be found later that they were not the main character at all. I loved how the story carried it's twists and turns, Pulled everyone in and solidified their connections. There was times when I gathered a question in my mind and was not disappointed when the writer went back and fully fleshed out his characters with back story , links to each other and the very pleasing purpose of who, what , when , where and why. All the classic answers. Glen Krisch is a very talented writer and I hope that he will continue to show his horrors. I await eagerly to see and read more from this author and applaud the hard work he seemed to have put in to this book. There wasn't a moment that I didn't feel like not turning the page and it was that suspense that held the key to me.

I was surprised by this book, It was definately a twist from what the normals come of shape shifters and their lives. It was packed full of suspense from the first page to the last I was eager to keep turning the pages and feeling out how the story would go. The characters were their own individuals without feeling they had blurred the lines and/or got lost in translation while others took a fore front. I am very pleased by how this book went and look forward to more the author has to write. I can't wait to see what might next pop out of their mind.

I was disappointed with this book, the characters held no depth for me or diversity, I found them to be hard to relate to the sudden possession of all rich seemed to make it elude any kind of struggle for the main characters leaving their focus all about relationships and things that were a little to old fashioned and seemingly unreal. Most books like this I can read and get hooked instantly but, I struggled to finish this book from page one to the last page I got to instead of reading it and enjoying it, I felt as if it was a chore. If a conflict arose instead of meeting it head on and trying to fight the characters were quick to avoid anything that might have triggered them leaving it to feel more of just a romeo and juliet supernatural where nothing was truly fought for. I don't know maybe it's just me and I encourage others to read it and see for themselves but, this was one book that really didn't make me want to pick it up and read it again. It had a great concept just not enough to pull it all together and sink it in. Just not something I have a taste for.
